Re: Climate Challenge Program Participation

Dear Secretary O'Leary:

Nashville Electric Service (NES) agrees to participate in the Climate Challenge Program. Since 1991, NES has had in place a tree planting program, demand-side management programs, and has made transmission and distribution system improvements to reduce or prevent greenhouse gas emissions. Enhancements to these existing programs, combined with the establishment of several new programs that are being developed at NES will have an even greater impact on the reduction or prevention of carbon dioxide emissions.

We are pleased to join other public utilities in the Climate Challenge Program and are committed to doing our fair share to achieve the program's objectives.

      Very truly yours,

      (Original signed by)

      President & Chief Executive Officer
