RE: Climate Challenge Program Participation

Dear Madam Secretary:

Lynches River Electric Cooperative, Inc., a distribution system serving no more than 50,000 consumers, agrees to participate in the Climate Challenge Program. The following list identifies the actions that our cooperative has taken since 1991, or will take by the year 2000 to reduce or prevent greenhouse gas emissions. The enclosed Workheet(s) and Worksheet Attachment(s) provide more specific information on these actions.

      A. Direct water heater controls

Lynches River Electric Cooperative, Inc. expects that the combination of these actions will reduce or prevent annual emissions of 353 tons of carbon dioxide in the year 2000. Furthermore, Lynches River Electric Cooperative, Inc. will report annually, on a form provided by the Department of Energy/Energy Information Administration, on activities under the Climate Challenge Program.
