Re: Climate Challenge Program Participation

Dear Secretary O'Leary

The Utility Board of the City of Key West agrees to participate in the Climate Challenge Program. The following list identifies the actions that out utility has taken since 1991, or will take by the year 2000 to reduce or prevent greenhouse gas emissions. The worksheet and attachment enclosed provide more specific information on these options.

Tree Planting Program Transmission and Distribution Improvements
      Tree Power Low Loss Transformers
                                                        New transmission facilities
Demand Side Management Street Light Conversion
      Energy Surveys
      Load Management

The Utility Board of the City of Key West expects that the combination of these actions will reduce or prevent annual emissions of 5,633 tons of carbon dioxide in the year 2000. Furthermore, the Utility Board of the City of Key West will report annually, on a form provided by the Department of Energy/Energy Information Administration, on activities and achievements under the Climate Challenge Program.

Most sincerely,
UTILITY BOARD - CITY OF KEY WEST
